Moberly Sports Centre replaced an existing facility that was at the end of its life. The project provides a 37% increase in sports provision for the area and much needed modern facilities. Importantly it was delivered at no cost to Westminster taxpayers. The facility is a net contributor to council revenue as the new fitness and leisure destination for Maida Vale, providing two pools, a 120-station gym and two exercise studios. It also features a large eight-court sports hall, boxing gym and a bespoke gymnastics area.
Utilising plate heat exchangers, the heating strategy is designed to minimise heat loss to assist with lowering energy consumption. An aspirating fire alarm system was installed along with a wireless pool alarm to alert to incidents within the pool quickly and efficiently.
