The Archbishop Lanfranc Academy is a new school in Croydon. It comprises of three buildings, the main school which is a four storey construction and is approximately 10,150 square meters in size, a Sports Block and Nursery Block both of which are approximately 1,650 and 113 square metres respectively. Designed as a Facilities Output Specification (FOS) compliant building utilising a balance of natural daylight along with hybrid, natural and passive ventilation.
The new building promotes an internal lighting design which is linked to daylight sensors. This turns off certain light fittings when the external lighting levels are sufficient to satisfy the internal requirements. Photovoltaic panels are located on the roof which allow energy to be produced from the sunlight which is fed back into the power supply of the school. Commissioned in accordance with the Education and Skills Funding Agency with an occupancy of 1500 pupils.
