For us, environmental responsibility and good business go hand-in-hand, which is why we have developed our own environmental policy. This includes directives on the use of natural resources (thus minimising waste and encouraging water conservation) and the avoidance of pollution and disturbance such as noise, dust and traffic. We have achieved ISO 14001 status.
Halsion Limited believes it is important to make a positive difference by working to engage and involve the communities in which we operate.
Our vision is to continue to add value to our clients and build upon our reputation by continuing to contribute to society as a whole. We are committed to undertake our activities in a sustainable and responsible manner and take a leadership role in the built environment. We will ensure that our business genuinely contributes to the community by initiating and supporting educational, environmental, social and economic activities, which enrich our people, customers and suppliers and bring benefit to the wider community.
Community Involvement and Corporate Social Responsibility
Halsion and its employees continue to promote their ability and willingness to support varying Charities. Over the last two years the Company has donated £50,000 plus to charitable organisations, local care facilities and local sports clubs and facilities. We have also provided physical assistance in the form of materials and systems services installations to a local hospice and children’s home. We assist our clients with various community involvement local to projects we work on.
We also sponsor local football clubs and are investors in associations such as the Princes Trust and Hastings young achievers. The Company is proud of its commitment and ability to assist worthwhile causes and will continue to do so. As a business we strive to employ labour local to the project in hand.
The Halsion Limited strategy is to set out the policy of commitment to the environment and co-ordinate the management of activities that cause or have the potential to cause environmental impacts.
The Environmental Management System (EMS) Manual sets out a systematic management approach. The EMS includes all environmental aspects under direct management control and others that management could reasonably expect to influence.
Control is possible over the sites and activities. Influence is possible over the activities, products and services of key suppliers, sub-contractors and customers.
The combined areas of control and influence define the scope of the EMS. The scope of the EMS includes all manufacturing and installation activities on all sites and includes the head office. Extension of scope to increase the range of influence will be in future plans for continual improvement.
EMS (ISO 14001) and Monitoring
The Company has achieved and maintained certification to ISO 14001 (UKAS standard). SGS has been appointed as the external auditor and certification body.
Control of activities related to the significant environmental aspects is essential to minimise environmental impact and maintain environmental protection. Key characteristics of these activities are measured to ensure that stipulated operating criteria are being met, including the achievement of objectives and targets. It is particularly important that measurements are reviewed to confirm legal compliance.
Regular site inspections monitor our performance and control of hazardous substances, emissions, discharges, waste management, spills, leaks and nuisance.
Internal audits and SGS surveillance audits monitor the effectiveness of the EMS.
